Global Federation of Chinese Business Women – Atlanta Chapter Mini Conference

On September 7, 2025, the Global Federation of Chinese Business Women – Atlanta Chapter hosted its “Mini Conference” at the Culture Center of Taipei Economic & Cultural Office in Atlanta Cultural Center. The event, themed “Voices of Impact: Women Leading Change in Policy and Healthcare,” drew nearly one hundred enthusiastic participants from the local community.

Program Highlights

The Conference featured keynote speeches from two distinguished female leaders:

• Michelle Kang (Candidate for Georgia House District 99) spoke on “How Women Can Make an Impact in Public Policy.” She shared her motivation for entering public service and emphasized that women’s participation is essential to advancing diversity and social progress.

• Marilyn Margolis (Retired CEO of Emory Johns Creek Hospital) addressed “Women’s Roles in Healthcare Leadership.” Drawing on her decades of professional and managerial experience, she underscored that in the post-pandemic era, healthcare urgently needs leaders with both expertise and empathy.

The session concluded with a lively Q&A, where attendees raised questions on policy, healthcare reform, and workplace challenges for women, creating a vibrant exchange of ideas.

Guest Remarks

Several honored guests delivered remarks in support of the conference:

• General Director Lin (Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Atlanta) commended the Atlanta Chapter for actively promoting women’s public participation and contributing to Taiwan’s international visibility.

• Georgia State Representative Karen Lupton praised the forum for showcasing the wisdom and influence of Asian American women, stressing that women’s involvement in public life fosters balanced and sustainable development.

• Director Yan (Culture Center of Taipei Economic & Cultural Office in Atlanta) recognized the chapter’s achievements in culture and professional fields, noting that the conference fosters cross-sector dialogue and brings fresh perspectives to the community.

The event also received support from honorary advisors and community leaders including Arthur Holst, Dr. Raymond Ho, Joseph Hsiao, and Charlene Fang.

The conference was co-organized with the Atlanta Taiwanese Chamber of Commerce, Taiwanese Chamber of Commerce of Gainesville Georgia, ROC Veterans Association of Atlanta, Monte Jade SE Science & Technology Association, Military Dependents’ Village Association, Chinese Cultural School, Atlanta Taiwanese Women Association, Chinese Medical Association of Atlanta, and TAP-ATL.

Significance

Chapter President, Janice Lu stated that the conference served not only as a platform for women’s professional and leadership development but also as an opportunity to unite the community. She expressed hope that women will continue to expand their influence in public policy, healthcare, and business management, while strengthening their skills to meet the challenges of an ever-changing world.

At the conclusion of the event, all participants joined in a group photo holding signs reading “Support Taiwan’s Entry into WHO” demonstrating strong overseas community support for Taiwan’s participation in international public health affairs. The conference successfully wrapped up at 4:00 PM, with attendees expressing that they gained valuable insights and looked forward to future events.
