The Global Federation of Chinese Business Women-Atlanta Chapter (GFCBW-Atlanta) membership meeting was held in the banquet hall of the St. Ives Country Club in John’s Creek, Georgia at 4:00 pm on Saturday, January 7, 2023. 32 members along with three honorary advisors Sachi Koto, Gary Change and Ellen Chiang attended the meeting. The dinner started at 6 o'clock. Mr. Hongwei Ou, Director of the Culture Center of Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Atlanta, Mr. Forster Lee, Director of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Atlanta, Mr. John Bradberry, Mayor of the city of John’s Creek, Dr. Wang, Honorary President of the World Federation of Taiwanese Chambers of Commerce, Overseas Chinese Affairs Commissioners Fu-Tai Lu, Song Chang, Ellen Chiang, Overseas Chinese Affairs Promotion Committee Joseph Hsiao, and other representatives of overseas Chinese groups were all in attendance. Total number of guests attending was 61 . The meeting agenda included a report that reviewed last year’s activities, a proposed 2023 plan, and a financial report. The host introduced the third board of directors and supervisors, new director Michelle Jhu, new honorary board member, Ellen Chiang and new members. Ms. Ting Chiu led them in swearing in to abide by the purpose and the constitution of the GFCBW. The agenda also included an explanation of the Huaguan Award and the Hand-in-Hand Award along with a presentation on dressing etiquette and a beauty make-up routine. Throughout the dinner, there were prize drawings, song guessing games, riddle guessing, and a group dance. The entire event was a complete success. Supervisor Ann Peters served as the host of the meeting, and President Lucy Liu served as the chairperson of the meeting. In the meeting report, President Liu reiterated "connecting outstanding women, demonstration of beautiful styles, and rising as phoenix" as her main theme in 2023. She explained her plan for 2023, including: a Lunar New Year Membership Meeting and Dinner in January, an International Women's Day Lecture in March, a Spring Flower Appreciation Friendship Event in May, an Asian-American Month seminar in May, Summer networking and friendship Activities in June, the 4th New and Old President Handover Ceremony and Dinner in August, and The GFCBW World Annual Meeting in Osaka, Japan in October. Members were encouraged to participate in the trip to Osaka, and she looked forward a wonderful and fruitful year. She also showed photos of the chapter participation in the GFCBW annual meeting in October 2022. President Liu also introduced the third board of directors and supervisors. The chairperson of the board of supervisors, Ms. Chiu presided over the swearing-in ceremony of the new honorary board of directors and members. President Liu led all the board of directors and supervisors and officers in wishing all the participants a great and auspicious year with each member presenting a congratulatory phrase with the rabbit as the theme. She also announced the voting results of the director meeting that Ms. Michelle Jhu will fill the vacancy of the retiring director Alice Stanley starting January 1, 2023. Supervisor Chiu explained the Huaguan Award and the founding president Ms. Jackie Chen explained the Hand-in-Hand Award. Ms. Chen also conducted a presentation on dressing etiquette and shared the origin of the Atlanta chapter member uniforms and how to choose appropriate uniforms and clothing for various occasions. The standing and seating charts of the photo session with the president, guests, board members and staff along with all the other members were explained. Board member Michelle Jhu showed everyone the importance of inner beauty by having appropriate and comfortable under garments. Board member Ms. Lifen Hallo demonstrated a 10-minute make-up routine. During the dinner, the event director, Jessica Yang, and the director of general affairs, Amy Hsu presided over the activities of guessing song titles and riddles interspersed with prize drawings. The atmosphere was very engaging and fun. All had a wonderful time. The prizes included gifts and cash donated from sponsors and board members. Each participating member received exquisite gifts, such as potted daffodils representing the auspiciousness of the new year, GFCBW purple masks, and Taiwanese Handmade flag pins.
