“Smart in Styling” Workshop

Global Federation of Chinese Business Women-Atlanta Chapter (GFCBW-Atlanta) presented a workshop, “Smart in Styling” in celebration of International Women’s Day.


On Sunday, February 27, 2022, at 3:00 PM, GFCBW-Atlanta and Ms. Catherine Hsu from Catherine Fashion and Design Institute presented a workshop, “Smart in Styling” at the Doraville Civic Center, Doraville, Georgia. Approximately fifty members and friends of GFCBW-Atlanta attended this event along with Mr. Hong-Wei Ou, Director of the Culture Center of Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Atlanta (OCAC in Atlanta), Mr. Hsien-Yu Chung, Consular Officer of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Atlanta (TECO). In addition, Ms. Qijun Fan, member of the Overseas Chinese Affair Commission, Mr. Joseph Geierman, Mayor of the city of Doraville, Ms. Donna Coleman-Stribling, Dekalb County Solicitor General, and Ms. Roudelyne Nogar Jean, Consul General of Consulate General of Haiti in Atlanta and her five colleagues attended this event as well.


Catherine, in her slideshow, presented the wardrobes of first ladies from various countries as examples of what smart styling is and what mistakes these examples showed. She also discussed what type of accessories for formal settings as well as in daily life essential and how they enhanced and impacted the overall styles and beauty. Catherine brought to the presentation clothing and accessories and she used them to style the volunteer participants during the Q & A time. Before and after photos were made to show the difference and how these clothes and/or accessories enhanced the confidence of the wearers. The entire atmosphere was cheerful and lively. Members and guest’s participants all expressed that they benefited from this workshop and admired Catherine’s professional styling skills.


To celebrate International Women’s Day, the members donated new or clean women business attire to help local women who need such clothing for job interview or employment. Our members could use this opportunity to clean up their wardrobe collection. It is a solution where everyone benefits in deed. Ms. Donna Coleman-Stribling, Dekalb County Solicitor General explained the responsibilities of her office and the importance of all of us working together to help reduce domestic violence and give the victims a chance of a new life. She also opened the floor for questions.


This event is in line with the 90th anniversary of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Commission, Director Ou from OCAC in Atlanta made a presentation of “The New Service Model for Overseas Taiwanese Businessmen” including the Covid-19 Relief Plan 4.0, and remote health consultation services for overseas Chinese. He also mentioned an APP especially designed for all overseas Chinese to access databases for business and health information as well as entrepreneur opportunities.


In conclusion, all participants enjoyed Catherine Hsu’s presentation. They also took knowledge and skills learned from her and the other presenters to improve oneself and make it a meaningful celebration of the International Women's Day.
