The Global Federation of Chinese Business Women (GFCBW)-Atlanta (Shihua for short in Chinese) held its 5th Anniversary celebration with a trade show and dinner at Yifan Cooking School on August 27th, 2022, from 5:00 PM until 8:30 PM. There were 54 participants including members and VIPs.
The Chairwoman of GFCBW, Sherry Chen, the Honorary Chairwoman Shu-Ying Li, and Vice Chairwoman Karen Chen all recorded special congratulatory videos to wish the Atlanta Chapter a happy 5th birthday. They all greeted the members with warm remarks and wishes for the trade show and dinner to be a success.
In addition, the Director of Culture Center of Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) in Atlanta, Ou Hongwei, Taiwan’s Overseas Community Affairs Council (OCAC) members, Ellen Chiang and Fu-Tai Lu, the honorary advisor of GFCBW-Atlanta, Sachi Koto, and representatives of various associations were also invited to this joyful event. Ms. Roudelyne Nogar Jean, Consul of the Consulate General of Haiti in Atlanta also attended this event. The Mayor of the City of Doraville, Joseph Geierman, sent a letter of congratulations, thanking GFCBW-Atlanta for its support and friendship over the past few years.
President of GFCBW-Atlanta, Lucy Liu, reported in her speech that a series of activities were conducted this year under the theme of "creating life aesthetics and connecting unlimited business opportunities". These activities are: "Self-Confidence Beauty - New Year Membership Meeting" in January, "Technology Beauty - Technology Entrepreneurship Lecture" in February, "Women's Beauty - International Women's Day Event" in March, and "Business Beauty and Promoting Taiwan joining WHA Event" in May. She hopes that these activities brought members a colorful last year. She said that today’s exciting anniversary celebration and trade show were the joint efforts of all the board members and staff. It is testimony that the GFCBW spirit continues to thrive and shine.
In his speech, Director Ou Hongwei of the Culture Center of TECO mentioned that when he first arrived in Atlanta for this post, he immediately received an event invitation from the GFCBW-Atlanta and felt warmth and enthusiasm toward this organization and its members. Therefore, he has attended every GFCBW-Atlanta event in person. He thanked this organization for its enthusiasm and effort in public welfare and especially for its support in promoting activities sponsored by the OCAC. He concluded his remarks by saying, "Shihua loves me, I love Shihua"!
Eleven members and sponsors displayed goods and services in the afternoon trade show in the areas of food, coffee, beauty, women's clothing, professional photography, books, various educational courses, real estate, etc. These exhibits elicited high interest among the participants and allowed them to have opportunities to expand their business.
During the celebration, the GFCBW’s video, “Advance Taiwan to WHA” and a slide show of GFCBW-Atlanta 2022 events were shown. In the second half of the event, board members Jessica Yang and Amy Hsu brought a "Super Match" game to test the tacit understanding and performance skills of the guests. This activity brought a lot of fun and laughter to the audience and created a very lively atmosphere. More than 30 prizes were drawn, and each participant also received a specially prepared gift from the board members and sponsors. All participants enjoyed this celebratory event tremendously and it was concluded successfully.
