The Global Federation of Chinese Business Women - Atlanta Chapter (GFCBW-Atlanta) held its 2022 Lunar New Year Membership Meeting at 12:00 noon on Saturday, January 15 in the conference hall of Sugo Italian Restaurant. Esteemed guests present were Director Ou Hongwei of the Cultural Center of Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Atlanta and four honorary advisors of the GFCBW-Atlanta Chapter. These honorary advisors are Holly Geerdes, Sachi Koto, Gary Chang, and Charlene Fang.
The President of the GFCBW-Atlanta Chapter, Ms. Lucy Liu, presented her annual report which included reviewing the activities of 2021, making proposed plans for 2022, and the current financial report. In addition, she introduced the members of the third-term board of the GFCBW-Atlanta and the staff. A new board member, Janice Lu was nominated and voted on by the members present. She won by an overwhelming majority and was sworn in as a new board member effective immediately. During the president’s presentation, prizes were given by drawing lottery tickets intermittently and everyone received some sort of prize. After the president’s presentation, members were able to introduce themselves one by one, socialize, and network with each other. The meeting was adjourned successfully as a manifestation of the GFCBW-Atlanta’s teamwork and diligent effort from the board members and staff.
A slide show was presented during the meeting to highlight the activities of 2021. First Vice President Ms. Amy Chang was the Master of Ceremonies. President Lucy Liu proposed the theme of her presidency as “Creating the aesthetics of life and connecting unlimited business opportunities.” She outlined her plan for 2022 which includes promoting self-confidence during the annual membership meeting in January, increasing scientific knowledge and beauty in a joint webinar to promote entrepreneurship in technology in February, participating in the Women’s Day celebration in March, a seminar on real estate development and investment opportunities in May, a seminar on intellect and beauty in July, a day trip in September, participating in the GFCBW World Annual Meeting in Taiwan in October, and finally engaging in community charity activities in December.
President Liu introduced the third-term board members and the Chief Superintendent, Ms. Ting Lan Chiu, lead the swearing in ceremony of the new board members. First Vice-president Ms. Amy Chang lead the entire board and the staff to offer Chinese New Year’s greetings one by one with the lunar year of the tiger as the theme. Ms. Janice Lu was elected as a new board member effectively immediately.
After the President’s presentation, each member had an opportunity to introduce herself. Members present all took the opportunity to network and socialize and hope there would be future business cooperation among the members.
The program was interspersed with prize drawing hosted by the Activity Chief Jessica Yang. Thanks to each board member and the superintendents as each of them donated wonderful prizes and red envelopes of money. Director Ou Hong-Wei of the Cultural Center of Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Atlanta donated exquisite postage packs and a Forbidden City Calendar. Everyone who participated was presented with handcrafted coffee soap from President Liu, and potted daffodils from the GFCBW-Atlanta Chapter. This beautiful plant arrangement represents the auspiciousness of the New Year.
